OneDrive Javascript Error on windows 11 and 10

Script errors essentially render the built-in OneDrive app unusable on Windows 10. This is not only a waste of resources, but it is also very annoying as normal Windows 10 users quickly get used to the onboard OneDrive app.

OneDrive app on Windows 11 can cause a OneDrive JavaScript error mainly because of problems with the JavaScript or VBScript code in the OneDrive app itself. JavaScript or VBScript code problems can be caused by actual code problems or Internet connection problems.

Luckily, there are two most effective methods that you can use to fix the problem if you are suffering from javascript errors in the OneDrive app on Windows 11 and 10.

Method 1: Enable Active Scripting

You can enable Active Scripting on your computer to fix the OneDrive JavaScript error. You can follow the steps given below.

Step 1: Press Windows + R keys together to open the Run dialog box. Type inetcpl.cpl and click OK.

Step 2: Go to the Security tab and click on Custom level….

Step 3: Locate the Scripts section and make sure that the Enable Scripts in this section option is enabled. If Script Active is disabled, enable it, then click Yes.

Step 4: Click OK and restart your PC.

There should be no OneDrive script error on Windows 10 and the application should launch successfully after your computer starts up. If it’s still there, you can try the next method.

Method 2: Reset your Internet Explorer settings

The built-in Windows 10 OneDrive app and the Internet Explorer app on your computer use the same Internet connection settings, which means that any corrupted or misconfigured Internet Explorer settings will cause OneDrive to crash.

Therefore, you can fix the JavaScript error in OneDrive by resetting your Internet Explorer settings. To reset Internet Explorer settings, you need:

Step 1: Close all open Internet Explorer and open a new Internet Explorer.

Step 2: Click on the gear icon and click on Internet Options.

Step 3: Go to the Advanced tab and click on Reset…

Step 4: In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click Reset….

Step 5: Once your Internet Explorer settings have been restored to default, click Close, then click OK.

Step 6: Restart your computer for your changes to take effect.

After your computer starts, the OneDrive JavaScript error will be fixed. If this method doesn’t work (which is highly unlikely), you can follow the next steps.

Step 1: Close any open Internet Explorer and open a new Internet Explorer window.

Step 2: Click on the gear icon and click on Internet Options.

Step 3: Go to the Advanced tab and click on Restore advanced settings.

Follow the on-screen instructions to restore Internet Explorer advanced settings and check the box to remove all settings. Then the OneDrive script error on Windows 11 can be fixed.
